Traditional dental implants work fine when you have a single tooth that needs to be replaced.  But when you are facing a more dramatic and sweeping dental challenge that requires a full set of teeth to be replaced, traditional implants will fall short of their intended goal.

In situations where all teeth must be replaced, dentists turn to a branded procedure known as All-on-4 implants.  This procedure involves inserting four screws into a person’s jawbone which are then used to anchor a complete set of teeth.  The result is a permanent, stable set of teeth that restores you to dental health.

There are many benefits to using All-on-4 implants.

With this procedure, there is no need for bone grafting, which can be the case with traditional implants.  This procedure’s shorter healing time and lower amount of overall pain are consideredbig advantages for patients.

In addition, All-on-4 implants are considered a more affordable way to replace a full set of teeth.  Because only four implants are used, the costs of the process will be much less than with other types of procedures.

There are very few restrictions on what you can eat as well.  If you suffered from gum disease and missing teeth that made it difficult to eat certain things in the past, most, if not all of those worries will be gone and you will be able to eat pretty much anything you want.

But perhaps the biggest long-term benefit is that with All-on-4 implants in place, your mouth and gums will be much healthier, less prone to root decay and gum disease.   You will also benefit from renewed confidence due to a better and a more beautiful smile.

Although the All-on-4 procedure does require a patient to undergo surgery using general anesthesia, the recovery time is fairly short.  For the first few days following the surgery, you’ll only be able to eat soft foods, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and apply ice to reduce swelling to your jaw.  After that, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying a new life with a new and full set of teeth in place.
